Vintage One Carat Antique Old Mine Cut DIAMOND Ring Stacker Band 7.7g 18k White Gold Solitaire Geometric Engagement 1Ctw OmC
ABOUT:
A timeless and sturdy vintage stacker band with beautiful antique old mine cut diamond measuring almost one carat.
Very nice quality with thick 18k white gold setting holding up the chunky old cut in sturdy prongs. This one is ready for regular wear - I love it in a mixed metal stack with my yellow gold donut band. With the flat north south edges it layers really well.
While the piece is at least vintage, the old mine cut is older and antique. I purchased it in France and it is French made with their hallmark for 18k gold and a goldsmith stamp.
Makes a timeless engagement ring, adds geometry and sparkle to a ring stack.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size: 5 1/4 - quite a thick and sturdy setting so best to discuss sizing with your local jeweler / the person doing the work to determine their comfort level.
Weight: 7.75g.
The diamond is about 6.3mm and a chunky cut measuring just under one full carat (0.98). This is an estimate as I would not remove the stone from the setting for exact measurements.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Well you knew it was coming - the diamond report.
This one has a wonderful warm to pale yellow color, having been cut during the antique period when the conflict free mines in operation produced warmer rough. The diamond is very nearly eye clean with just an indented natural inclusion on the underside just off the culet that can sometimes catch the light to be slightly eye visible. One side of the girdle is also wider with an indented natural inclusion there where the stone was not bruted. GIA defines indented natural inclusions as a dent that occurs under the surface of a diamond as a result of the diamond cutter's decision not to polish it off, because doing so could end up harming the diamond so the cutters would work around it - this is not considered a defect or blemish but the frosted girdle can sometimes reflect around the stone - this is what you are seeing reflecting in the photos. Under magnification only and not at all eye visible is a very small needle inclusion and a few tiny speck inclusions.
I have not removed the stone from the setting to have it tested under the modern Four C's grading scale. My items do very well without paperwork since the scale was invented much later for modern machine cut diamonds with mathematically perfected facets. Having said that, my diamond reports that describe everything seen under magnification and to the eye in detail provide more information than a letter grade as well.
A fun one to layer and stack. Sturdy piece, ready to wear.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
I enjoy making my customers happy and matching unique pieces with new homes. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions! It means a lot to me that you are visiting my shop! : )
