The Peacock Ring : ) Teardrop RUBY Old Mine Cut DIAMOND Ring 18k Gold Silver Flourishes Ornate Scrolled
Back from my summer inventory trips to several countries / cities in Europe. I am selling an assortment of vintage to antique jewelry and rings which I have hunted for and gathered one at a time from around the world. Some examples seen in the last photo - thanks for stopping by!
ABOUT:
When I previewed this on Instagram, one of my followers called it the Peacock ring so we're going with that! After that suggestion I can totally see it! The ornate feathers fanning up and around.
I got this one in Milan, my sweet friend Letizia (of Jewelletigram / Instagram fame : ) said that flipping it the other way makes it look like a face with the two ruby eyes. Tee hee. Nice quality with sturdy hand feel.
I learned on my trip that this style, with the gold setting and the flourished ring face topped in silver and set with stones is a typical Italian design popular around the turn of the century / early 1900s. I saw a few of this style while shopping around and purchased two of my favorite ones. To me, it almost has giardinetti vibes too, with the scroll work appearing a bit foliate in design.
Ornate and beautiful with a pop of color from the rubies and the wonderful glints of sparkle from the old mine cut diamonds. The diamonds are chunky and rectangular, wonderful little hand chiseled old mine cuts.
Crafted in 18k gold with the ring face topped in silver which has a lovey antique patina. (Tested, no hallmarks remain.)
Antique boxes, props, mice, dishes ; ) not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 8.
Ring face is 32x17mm. It weighs a sturdy 5.3 grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
A bit of surface wear and lovely age appropriate patina. The old mine cuts appear quite frosty but they add a nice glint of sparkle. One is a replacement rose cut which is a more rounded disk shape than the rectangular stones but this is not glaringly apparent, I noticed it more under magnification.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
