Dramatic Kite Shaped Panel Ring Green Natural Emerald 1 Carat Mixed Old Cut Diamonds Mine Rose Cluster 18k Gold & Platinum c1922 Art Deco

ABOUT:

I love the drama of this flared kite shaped panel ring. At the center is a lovely pale green rectangular cut emerald. It is surrounded by a pave type setting of various old cut diamonds totaling a carat tdw - old mine, European, a few rose cuts and a single cut. One of the smallest stones is a brilliant cut and likely a replacement.

I found this one in Sweden but it was made in Finland in 1922 by the maker Alexander Tillander with the corresponding hallmarks. It is crafted in 18k gold with the ring face topped in platinum.

Fun to wear with the color and old cut sparkle, with a nice sized footprint on the finger and shape that adds geometry to the ring stack. With the 16 diamonds and various cuts that reflect the light differently, the piece has a moody and fabulous antique look.

Antique box is not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size 5 1/2, the ring face is 23x12mm. It weighs 2.4 grams.

The two larger diamonds that flank the emerald on the north and south ends are about 4.1mm each. The others are 1.7 to 2.5mm each. Estimated carat weight is around 1 carat total weight in diamonds. Again this is an estimate as the cuts vary, it is not possible to get an exact measurement while set and I would not remove them.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

The ring face curves so the pointed tips can come into contact with the finger. This is how it was made. I do not find it uncomfortable as I wear it now but thought to note it as it could get caught on something and drag a bit. Some abrasions and nibbles to the emerald especially in one area but it does not appear dull or with a matte finish overall. Typical antique diamonds with various natural inclusions, some appearing a bit frosty, some with a bit more warmth, some with speck inclusions and one with small specks of carbon seen under magnification. Wonderful texture and sparkle to the piece. It is a fun one to wear.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
