Antique Ruby Pink Sapphire Victorian Antique Five Stone Stacker Band 10k Gold Ring
ABOUT:
Happy memories of finding this one at a shop in Edinburgh with my parents. My mom then proceeded to wear it the remainder of the trip : )
Just loving the color and vibrant inner glow of these rubies / pink sapphires (what one gemologist calls a ruby, the other a pink sapphire - same family so the terms are objectively used based on the vibrancy of the pink hue.)
This Victorian five stone gives that gorgeous pop of color to a ring stack. I love five stone bands in all hues and colors. We often see them rotated with diamonds so it's been a bit since I've found one with all rubies and in such a striking color.
No hallmarks remain but tests at 10k gold.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
It is a size 7 1/4. It weighs 2.4 grams.
The ring face is 5.6mm north south.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Some evidence of sizing with slightly varying hues. There is a worn prong here and there but each stone is well held by the remaining, with the north and south prongs especially good for the center stones and the east west prongs especially good for the end stones.
Two of the rubies have a dark inclusion that is eye visible. The center stone has a little notch to the girdle edge with a flake of loss and one end stone has some nibbles creating a rough edge in one spot but to eye in with normal wear they all appear complete and full in the setting, mostly oval in shape. Some abrasions and nicks as expected for age but the color and glow of the stones is quite fabulous so I don't see much else besides that when wearing. Of course this also depends on the eye of the beholder so definitely utilize the 20x zoom feature which will accentuate everything much much more than anything seen while wearing.
Please also note that I take some photos / videos in the sunshine because it captures the lovely color and sparkle, but it also highlights any surface wear, scratches, abrasions, buildup or inclusions that can catch the light, making these things appear worse than they would with normal day to day wear. : ) Hopefully the pics in all lightning conditions help as they serve as part of the description.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
Thanks so much for looking at my items!
