Antique .6 Carat Old Mine Cut Diamond Solitaire Ring Platinum Edwardian Engagement Ring Solitaire Band Stacker
ABOUT:
I love the little open work details to the platinum basket setting holding up this chunky little .6 carat old mine cut diamond. All original Edwardian era piece with the beautiful old mine cut diamond being slightly elongated in its cushion cut with the wonderful open culet and X marks the spot when looking through the stone.
Makes a sweet little stacker, I like it with a yellow gold band for contrast. No hallmarks remain, tests as platinum. I purchased it in Paris, France.
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.
MEASUREMENTS:
It is a size 4 1/2. It weighs 1.85 grams.
The diamond is about 5.6 by 5.3mm cushion cut, but a chunky one measuring about 0.6 carat. I would never remove it from the antique setting for exact weight.
The ring face stands 4.5mm tall off the finger.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
The prongs still hold the stone from all side but 3 are completely worn back so it is held by the other 5. Certainly still wearable although for daily / heavier wear reinforcement is always possible.
Typical antique diamond with a slight warmth that faces up brighter. There is a cloudy carbon spot inclusion right above the culet which is eye visible but is somewhat disguised to the eye by being over the open culet. The stone has signs of wear, with a small notch to one girdle edge and two frosty flakes of loss leaving a small unpolished area right up against the edge the stone. The stone still appears complete in its shape so it doesn't appear to have a chunks missing, it is just a frosty unpolished spot on the surface edge. Poor baby, If it were a more pristine diamond I would have priced it higher but it is still a fun one and striking to wear. The shank is a bit blunt and thin at the back from age and wear and there are rub marks to the vertical edge of the basket from having been stacked for years and years, but the pretty detail remains.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

All items hand picked by me, one at a time from all over the world. All listings individually written by me, and not AI, after studying each piece to discuss its beauties and its ; ) eccentricities (which I am picky to point out).
Many of my listings include group shots – I find the comparisons between pieces help show scale, diamond hues, etc. All items in group shots are inventory, but refer to the website to see what items have sold out and to watch for new listings from the grouping to appear on the home page.
