Timeless One Carat Tdw Natural Warm Old Mine Cut DIAMOND Bezel Set Studs Earrings Antique Stones Vintage 18k White Gold 1Ctw OMC Studs
I am selling an assortment of vintage to antique jewelry and rings which I have hunted for and gathered from around the world. Some examples seen in the last photo - thanks for stopping by!
ABOUT:
Classic staple earrings! Gorgeous antique old mine cut diamonds, open backed in vintage tapering bezel settings. The bezel serves as an illusion setting with the white gold surround adding to the eye, size to the diamond. I love these stones, they have a beautiful warmth in color, my favorite to find, having been cut during a period when the mines in use produced a generally warmer rough. The white gold settings serve as a bit of a contrast but the stones are interesting in that under magnification they appear almost champagne, in sun they light up with a more pale yellow hue and then in ambient light they face up whiter. Delicious! We often see this with the old hand cut diamonds - (and love it!).
These stones have a really awesome kozibe effect. One is completely eye clean and the other nearly so. Fun little sparklers with the bezels adding a bit of height off the ear. Total carat weight is around 1 carat, but see mm measurements below as this is an estimate and I would not remove them.
Found in the UK with 750 stamps / the numerical hallmarks used in Europe for 18k gold, on the post and push backs, and additional UK stamps on the posts as well.
Antique boxes / items in displays in photos are not included. Please note the measurements.
MEASUREMENTS:
The diamonds are each about 4.8mm, extending an unknown amount in the bezels, chunky cuts each measuring about half carat for a total carat weight of one carat / 1ctw. This is an estimate as I do not remove stones from antique settings for exact measurements and depth of the stones cannot be determined while set. The faces of the earrings with the bezel outline are 5.8mm, tapering slightly to more narrow at the base. The settings stand 4.5mm deep / tall off the ear from the bottom of the bezels to the top of the diamonds' crowns.
The pair weighs 1.9 grams.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Sturdy and ready to wear! One stone is eye clean, the other has a small cloud and a linear needle inclusion, both along the outside edge and only very slightly eye visible (certainly not to my eyes which are in their forties!). Nothing glaring or even really eye visible. Beautiful warmth, reflective kozibe effect, excellent clarity for old cuts - total classics!
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
