BOXED Eye Clean Antique 1.1 Carat Tdw Old Mine Cut Diamond Earrings 18k White Gold Platinum Studs French Stud in Box
I am selling an assortment of vintage to antique jewelry and rings which I have hunted for and gathered from around the world. Some examples seen in the last photo - thanks for stopping by!
ABOUT:
Ever sought after classic stud earrings with nice size chunky antique old mine cut diamonds! Beautiful and eye catching French pair in 18k white gold and platinum totaling a little over 1.1 carat total weight in diamonds. Comes as pictured in an antique earring box.
Added bonus aside from being eye clean antique diamonds is that the pair is super sturdy and ready for regular wear! With the spring loaded Alpa style push backs, they latch into place and don't come free unless you manually press the buttons on each side of the push back to free it so about as sturdy as they come!
Each earring holds a 5.2mm old mine cut diamond with an open back, in the long and secure prongs. I acquired these in France, the diamonds are certainly antique, the settings I can't say for certain as they don't show a lot of wear. This French type of push back was invented around 1930 so it is possible they are Art Deco period, but with how bright and gleaming the white gold and platinum settings are, I'm not sure if they are newer than that. The diamonds however are definitely older / antique due to the clues they give us with how they were cut.
French hallmarks on the posts of each for 18k and platinum and the push backs are marked as well.
Antique Box Is Included! It is a bigger box and kind of makes the earrings appear smaller in the photos than they are while worn so Please note the detailed measurements that I always provide. On the flip side, I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures where I am required to show zoomed in detail.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
The diamonds - one is about 5.3x5.1mm just slightly elongated and the other 5.2mm, they appear matching in size to the eye, each weighing about .57 carat each for a total carat weight of about 1.14 carat total for the pair. This is an estimate as I do not remove stones from their antique settings for exact weights and I could not get accept depths while set.
They measure about 6.7mm in diameter in the pronged settings. They are 5.8mm deep from the ear not measuring the ear post but just looking at the pronged setting.
This pair of earrings weighs 2.8 grams combined.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Excellent ready to wear condition. The diamonds are eye clean with just a few very faint inclusions, a speck or cloudy spot here or there seen only under strong magnification. No chips or damage. I little bit of wear to one or two prongs but the stones are well surrounded and well held.
Typical antique diamonds displaying a slight warmth in some light but they are bright and lively. One reads slightly warmer than the other under magnification but faces up brighter so they are well matching when worn.
The push backs are excellent. You can push them in slightly tighter than the notched posts but they aren't as tight there as when they are latched into the notch at the end of the post. Either way they can't be removed without the push button action to take them off. I only mention this to say that with this type of push back, you can't pinch them close to the earlobe if that makes sense.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
