Antique Old Cut GARNET Pale Yellow Rivet Halo Cruciform HEART Locket Back Antique Ring 18k Gold Georgian Victorian
ABOUT:
This is a personal collection release that I got a few years ago in London on a sourcing trip with my mom. At the center is a gorgeous, glowing purplish red old cut garnet. The ring has a cruciform shape with four warm to pale yellow gemstones, one on each side creating a halo alternating with little gold rivet details,
The details don't end there, as there are swirling engraved details at the ring shoulders underneath the ring face, accented in cobalt blue enamel. And when off the finger, we find a heart shaped locket compartment behind the ring face.
The locket panel is missing so it doesn't hold anything now, but is a fun little secret about the piece. The enamel is not very apparent as it is mostly worn at the shoulders, but can be seen from the side where it was more protected by being hidden under the ring face.
The old cut garnet is in better than most condition, and the four stones around it are also gemstones, that appear to have had a peachy pink foil backing at one time. They test up to Topaz but with the closed back settings I can't say for certain, except that they are gemstones and they are natural, the piece having been made before manmade stones started being used. Dates to the late Georgian to early Victorion/ mid 1800s period. It has UK hallmarks for 18k gold but the assay mark was lost in a sizing which makes looking up the date stamp not possible.
I love it for its coloring and all its unique details!
Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures. Antique box is not included.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 6. It weighs 2.9 grams.
15mm north south, 5.3mm tall off the finger.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Garnet in better than most condition. Some deterioration to the settings behind the yellow stones, where the foil color has faded and is a bit cloudy but this is seen more under magnification, the stones just appearing as warm to very pale golden yellow in color. Loss to the enamel, evidence of a sizing, and we avoid getting these closed back settings wet.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )

Please feel free watch @mouseshouseantiques on Instagram for inventory drops, sneak peaks and previews! And check out my website www.MousesHouseAntiques.com as I can add more pics there so you can get extra looks : )
All items hand picked by me, one at a time from all over the world. All listings individually written by me, and not AI, after studying each piece to discuss its beauties and its ; ) eccentricities (which I am picky to point out).
Many of my listings include group shots – I find the comparisons between pieces help show scale, diamond hues, etc. All items in group shots are inventory, but refer to the website to see what items have sold out and to watch for new listings from the grouping to appear on the home page.
